Yvonne Okoro Commissioned A Playground She Built For Kids With Special Needs On Her Birthday

In Africa, people never genuinely and wholeheartedly give without expecting anything in return. Even the big companies seen embracing corporate social responsibilities are forced to do so—leave them alone and they will take away all the profits.
It is therefore ‘beyond amazing’  that actress-Yvonne Okoro has celebrated her 29th birthday yesterday by commissioning a playground she built for the disadvantaged at the Dzorwulu Special School in Accra—and I think she deserves more than a THANK YOU for this.
She could have flown to London, Dubai or Spain out of an attempt to show off but with maturity comes extensive wisdom and the needed to live a legacy, so she decided to do something different from what most people in her position would have done.  She decided to give back to society.
Now that this is done, she can fly wherever she wants and we will still celebrate her, after all, she has contributed her bit—-and the many ‘shallow’ self-centred Ghanaian celebrities who had nothing better to show for their birthday celebrations except just party pictures and the shoes they bought can take a cue.

Time has changed, things are changing and we got to change for the better too.
Yvonne Okoro was joined by Deputy Minister of Education-Okudzeto Ablakwa, actor John Dumelo, Sandra Ankobiah, Irene Logan, Roseline Okoro, ex-Black Stars skipper-Stephen Appiah and others to commission the playground.
After which they joined her to cut her birthday cake.
Stating the reason why she decided to build the playground for the children, Yvonne Okoro said; she
she was there 2 years ago and “when I was leaving, I realized that the playground was in a deplorable state. The metals were all rusted. So I told myself that, I won’t stop till I’m able to provide a good recreational centre for the students of this school so that at the end of the day, they can also pride themselves of having a beautiful playground. That was the most important thing for me. And I wanted to thank everyone who supported this project,”
For this great gesture, whatever you hold against Yvonne Okoro should be left with the wind , she has shown she deserves to be celebrated—and we will do exactly that. I have not felt this good about Yvonne Okoro in a very long time!
